PATRICK MCCARTHY is a performer, director and playwright who has worked on stage, regionally, nationally, internationally, on TV and film. From the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, to Chicago’s Free Shakespeare Co, to Instant Shakespeare, & Actor’s Shakespeare Company, he has trod the Bardic boards. At the Little Theatre on the Square in Sullivan, Illinois, where he received his AEA card, he has acted, directed and been commissioned as a playwright as well. And since he has played old men since he was first on stage at 17, he has appeared as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, countless times, in the U.S. & Europe. Besides his “seat of the pants” training in community theatre, he studied at the Valley Studio in Spring Green, WIS with Reid Gilbert, Tom Leabhart, William Burdick, Carlo Mazzone Clementi, Mamako Yoneyama, Hovey Burgess, Judy Burgess, Barbara Leigh & Rosalie Jones; in Chicago with James O’Reilly, Victor D’Altorio and Vince Lonergan, as well as Eloise Watts’ Shakespeare Workout at Michael Howard Studios in NYC. 

Mr. McCarthy holds a B.S. in Secondary Ed/ English Broad Field from UW-Milwaukee & taught High School English & Theatre.

He was Artistic Director of Waukesha [WIS] Civic Theatre and HealthWorks Theatre in Chicago and has guest directed across the U.S. He isan active member of AEA, SAG/AFTRA, & Dramatists Guild.
