Martha B. Warschau

Martha Warschau began dancing at the age of nine with ballet, modern jazz, tap, acrobatics and baton twirling classes.  She loved performing and was thrilled to do a solo in the Miss Sheboygan pageant.

Majoring in social work at the University of Wisconsin, she included modern dance in her curriculum.  In NYC, she took graduate courses in social work at Hunter College.  While working in public health, Martha took dance classes – ballet, pointe, modern, character and ballroom- and studied with many of New York’s jazz teachers including choreographer Betsy Haug.

Martha taught beginners’ jazz, danced in a review showcasing Betsy’s choreography and choreographed for regional theater.  She competed in the Pro/Am North American Ballroom Championships in Atlantic City. She has a Turtle Bay Music School Certificate of Training in Dance Therapy. Martha also helped establish the non-profit Cecilia Marta Dance Company.

In 2015, Martha began volunteer work with JCE and is currently on their Board of Directors.  She is a member of Dancer’s Over 40.

Her passion for Betsy Haug’s style led her to produce a series of Master Classes in NYC taught by Gail Pearson, Betsy’s protege.
