Terry Violino

Terry Violino...He's Dancing with the Stars

Terry Violino, long time DO40 member died November 1st after problems associated with a heart infection. With Terry on that day was DO40 board member Dick Korthaze, who was also Terry’s Power of Attorney and Health Care Proxy. A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 8th, at St. Malachy's Church in Manhattan, and many DO40 members were in attendance, including President John Sefakis, Board Member Dick Korthaze, Margery Beddow, Ken Urmston, Ron Stratton, Gene Gavin, Joe Ahumada, Louise Quick, Penny Worth, Carol Stevens-Maxwell and Eileen Casey. We will have a separate gathering for DO40 members to remember Terry sometime in the beginning of the new year. We will let you all know when plans are firmed up.

Terry was a well-known fixture on the Great White Way for decades.  He was in original productions of The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Bajour (with Chita Rivera), Illya Darling (Equity Gypsy Robe recipient) Zorba!, Promises, Promises, Coco, (with Katharine Hepburn), Gantry, and finally, Michael Bennett’s Ballroom.

There is no list, however, to catalog his charm, his biting humor and his quick wit.  Terry was always “on” at DO40 events and socials.  He knew everyone, danced with everyone, and bitched (in a nice way, of course!) with everyone. Dance on, Terry.
