DO40 Returns to the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market
For a Soggy  -- and Improvised – Event!

Neither Rain, nor Economy, nor crowded Roseland deterred DO40 This Year!

Three years wasn’t exactly the charm, we thought it would be!  Due to the incredible downpour – and economic chaos of 2009, the BC/EFA Flea Market was moved at the last minute into the confines of the Roseland Dance Hall on West 52nd Street.  Our DO40 volunteers came out as expected, but our all our resources were unavailable due to the weather, and some people were confused by the signs in the rainy weather that were to lead them from West 44th Street to 52nd!     (left, volunteers Larry Merritt, Teddy Kern, DO40 Prez John Sefakis, Karin Baker, Gitana Garcia and Marcus Galante)

The proximity of tables provided for more conversation between organizations, and sometimes each lent a helping hand to the other.  There was hardly any breathing room, and it was very difficult to see us, despite our new and beautifully designed LOGO and banner behind our table!  But despite all the setbacks, we managed to raise over $1200.00 for BC/EFA. We hope that the FOURTH year will be our charm!  So look for all those wonderful little theatrical and dance items you have stashed away – that you never look at – and think of us next August as we prepare for the September BC/EFA event. If you’d like to donate items for the DO40 table, and/or your time that day, please call the DO40 Hotline at 212-330-7016 and let us know how you’d like to help.
