DO40’S MEMBERSHIP MEETING – STARRING TWO DO40 AUTHORS!

Stuart Hodes and Ron Young present their newly published Books!

On September 12, 2011, DO40 held its annual membership meeting at Characters Restaurant. A special addition to the meeting were presentations from DO40’s two newest authors Stuart Hodes and Ron Young.  The authors began the informal reading by introducing their new literary accomplishments -Stuart Hodes’ Part Real, Part Dream:  Dancing with Martha Graham, Agnes de Mille, Jack Cole and others… - Ron Young’s The (Only) Boy who Danced:  A Journey from Oklahoma to Broadway and Beyond.  The talented and illustrious readers were DO40 members Alice Teirstein, Nicole Barth and board member Lawrence Merritt (pictured above with authors Young and Hodes sandwiched in between!).

Also at the meeting was new DO40 member, dancer and teacher Stephen Reed and DO40’s 2009 Legacy Award Winner Gemze de Lappe (left).  The evening was full of “theatrical dish” – but you’ll have to buy the books to find out everything!  You can find both Stuart and Ron’s books online at Amazon.com – however, Stuart’s is only available in the Kindle version.  Nicole Barth (right) was shilling for Ron Young (with Paul Berne and Karin Baker), taking orders and making sure all books were accounted for!  Several members volunteered for upcoming events, and everyone enjoyed the crudité and sodas on the house!  What a great way to begin our 2011 – 2012 Season!
